No wall brick is required for normal use — it draws power over USB-C. Your host port should supply enough bus power (guides often cite about 15 W or more on capable USB-C ports).
Is it meant for installing and launching AAA titles?
It is a high-capacity hard drive for libraries, captures, and archives. Many modern games still prefer an internal SSD for load times; use the Vault to park titles and media you are not actively playing.
